R&D Chemist

Working from our technical centre in Groningen, you will become part of a close-knit R&D team focused on transforming ideas into scalable chemical solutions. From polymer synthesis and process optimization to pilot plant support and product implementation, this role offers a hands-on opportunity to work across the full development cycle.

What you’ll do

As an R&D Chemist, you will contribute to the development, optimization, and scale-up of innovative chemical products. Your responsibilities will include:

• Synthesizing and testing new polymer-based materials and additives
• Supporting the transition from laboratory development to large-scale production
• Optimizing chemical formulations and production processes
• Assisting in the operation and development of pilot plant activities
• Performing chemical analyses and interpreting experimental data
• Preparing samples to support customer projects and business development activities
• Developing and maintaining safe working procedures and protocols
• Collaborating closely with R&D project managers, quality control, production, and application teams

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a hands-on and analytically strong chemist who enjoys working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. You combine scientific curiosity with practical problem-solving skills and are comfortable taking ownership of projects and processes.

You’ll likely bring:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• Experience with polymer synthesis and/or scale-up processes
• Strong laboratory and analytical skills
• A proactive and independent working style
• A strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Dutch and English language skills (German is a plus)
